Article directories are web sites that contain articles on
a number of (usually) varying topics written by authors from
all over the world.
They serve two main purposes. The first is that they provide
web site and ezine owners with a centralised repository of
content that can be used for free provided that the articles
are kept in-tact and provided that the links within the articles
and resources boxes remain active.
The second main purpose of an article directory is to provide
free exposure to the authors of the articles that are published.
Because the articles can only be re-printed if the credits
to the original author remain intact, article directories have
become a popular method for self-promotion..
